Swank Construction, Dean Swank, and his family have donated $25,844 over the years to Montana Republican Party efforts, between state party, local, state and federal campaign contributions as per http://www.followthemoney.org and http://www.opensecrets.org. Senator Barkus a recipient of some of their funds brought forward the amendment, http://www.flatheadbeacon.com/articles/article/deq_dems_call_gop_move_to_fund_swanks_cleanup_costs_bad_precedent/9450/ where Swank Construction was just awarded $600k for a private project that they agreed to the terms of when they bought it (Kalispell Pole & Timber) all the while saying we don’t have the money to fund 15,000 uninsured children and cut the Healthy Kids Initative - not as 70% of the voters requested and voted for.
